If you lost the game because you had 21 general on you, Lich's Mirror would trigger, then you would lose again as a state-based effect?
Will anything save your skin if a general smacks you for 21?

No matter how you lose, Lich's Mirror will give you a new life. General damage will all be erased since you've already lost to it.

Actually, I think Lich's Mirror would trigger, you'd resolve the trigger, and then die as a state-based effect. General damage doesn't "get erased" as far as I understand it (else lifegain would be way better than it is).

It doesn't actually "trigger" as it's a replacement effect. However, yes, you will still lose the game.

Interestingly enough, if you steal Lich's Mirror with something like Memnarch, and you then take 21+ points of general damage, the game will essentially end in a draw. You don't own Lich's Mirror, so it doesn't get shuffled in, and it will try to replace you losing the game each time state based actions are checked.

HA! That is pretty neat.
Same as if you / to someone, have in play, and then kill them.
They will proceed to die infinite times and since it is an unbound loop, the game will end in a draw :3

You don't know what Magic is until you've been caught in an unending loop of losing the game.

Lich's Mirror with General Damaged happened at my playgroup. My friend had a combo with Lich's mirror and proceeded to think he was alive... I read the card, saw the innocent look on his face... and our group quietly discussed later that we would have our playgroup use the cards as it was intended by erasing the general damage from the player.

But maybe next time I will Aquire his Mirror for some extra fun, didn't know that was a loop, which ended the game in a draw.

flavor wise it should erase the General Damage and give you a reset, haven't had the situation come up but I'd push hard for them to be able to continue

It does nothing to save your ass from poison counters either.
