HELLWOOD is my green-black Glissa zombie elf commander deck that I turned to after Hippies & Brutes, my former mono-green Omnath elf deck startet taking too much damage as my friends' decks evolved. Now with undeath in the tribe and the addition of black removal cards, it's time to strike back!

I would very much appreciate advice on how to sharpen the deck further, while keeping the zombie-elf theme. Which cards should go and which should stay?

Oooh I think it's time Knitted Cthulu updated his wish list in the general comments section...to add Oblivion Stone and maybe Plague Boiler, as both work well with Glissa. There's also a couple other artifact creatures that are bonkers with Glissa but they aren't elves or zombies - one is Moriok Replica, for drawing lots and lots of cards.

I dare you to update that list I DARE YOU

Plague Boiler added to the list! Oblivion Stone works too slow and just results in a massive attack from the rest in my experience. The person in my group who had it have now removed it to avoid becoming a target. Artifact creatures is okay as long as they work well with Glissa, the Traitor. Moriok Replica seems costly, but do you have any other suggestions?

Ah, but you need to look at Oblivion Stone as an 8-mana sorcery. I usually only play it when I have the mana to use it right away, unless I am under duress. And with Glissa you can use the Stone one turn, cast Glissa, kill a creature, then pick it up to use again later :)

Other cards I use in green/black are Pernicious Deed; Maelstrom Pulse; and Gaze of Granite to deal with problem permanents. Putrefy is excellent too, and works well with Glissa's 'kill creatures to get back artifacts' theme.

If you are really looking to play elf tribal though, think about Door of Destinies. You can get a large army with that - and if it gets destroyed, just get it back with Glissa! Also, a great elf for your deck is Masked Admirers. Draws you a card, and you can get it back if it dies.

If you are open to doing more of an artifact based Glissa deck, just look at other examples in this thread - there are some killer decks listed here! Otherwise, yours is unique and looks like fun.

What thread? There's a Glissa thread on this forum here http://mtgcommander.net/Forum/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=11230 This would be the first theme deck though :)

I could suggest a shitload of cards that'd make your deck better, but I guess that's besides the point. Some cards you might fit in:

Sylvok Replica is almost an elf
Thornbite Staff some elves are shamans... this is the cornerstone of any Glissa deck (because of deathtouch obviously)
Solemn Simulacrum let's face it, how could a creature that puts a land into play not be an elf?
Codex Shredder is a gem
Nihil Spellbomb you don't have problems running Executioner's capsule, well, this even draws you a card.

Ordering a new batch of cards for the zombie-elves based on your advice. I will give them some time off now though, after winning a epic 7-hour magic round with them!
