GREETINGS, MORTALS. WELCOME TO MY REALM. YOU MAY CALL ME K.

MISTER K.

Image

I HAVE DESCENDED UPON YOUR PLANE OF EXISTENCE TO PROVIDE YOU WITH THE INSIGHT AND WISDOM OF MY RACE, THE ONCE GLORIOUS ONAKKE.

MY PEOPLE WERE PROUD AND CONFIDENT IN THEIR ABILITY TO MAKE. TO CREATE. TO BRING EXISTENCE TO THAT WHICH HAD NONE. YOU GET THE IDEA. GREAT CITIES SPRAWLED OVER AND UNDER OUR WORLD, INTERTWINED WITH ITS NATURAL BEAUTY AND OVERFLOWING WITH TECHNOLOGICAL BOOTY. WE HAD FLYING CARS AND DIDN'T FEAR THE SARS AND OUR WORLD-DOMINANCE WAS ABSO-LOOTY.

THEN THE WARS BROKE OUT AND THEN THEY WENT AWAY
WASTED WE WERE, BUT WE DID IT AGAIN ANYWAY
JUST FOR THE FUN OF KILLIN'
SINCE SOMEONE ELSE WAS BILLIN'
OUR CITIES TURNED TO CRATER HOLES FOR KIDS TO PLAY

PART OF THIS MESS, I INDEED ONCE HAD BEEN
THE BLOOD ON MY HANDS WILL NEVER DISSAPEAR
TECH OFFICER ON MY TEAM
LOTS OF THAT SELF-E-ESTEEM
PROUD OF MY WORK TO MAKE A BETTER NUKE SPEAR

THEN ALL WENT RED AND MY HEAD STARTED TO SPIN
WE HAD LOST WHAT WE WERE S'PPOSED TO WIN
ALL THAT PAIN AND BLEEDIN'
GOOD DOCTOR I WAS NEEDIN'
TO MEND THE LIFE THAT AWAY FROM ME WAS SLIPPIN'

MY SOUL CAME BACK, THOUGH, WHAT A TWIST OF FATE
AFTER THE END, YOU'D THOUGHT THAT'S SOMETHING ONE WOULD CELEBRATE
BUT NO, BROTHER, THAT JUST WAS NOT TO BE
'CAUSE MY PEOPLE WEREN'T WHERE I LEFT 'EM, NOWHERE I COULD SEE

AND ALL THE SCENERY GORN AROUND'N'ROUND
WAS NOT LIKE I LEFT IT, INSTEAD WAS BURNED TO THE GROUND
BUILDINGS CRUMBLED, OVERGROWN WITH VINES
ANIMALS PROWLED THE CONCRETE JUNGLE, IT'S LINES

I TOOK THE FORM I RECALLED FROM BEFORE
AND STOOD OUTDOORS, SEEKING ANSWER OR MORE
THE REASON I WAS BACK FROM THE DEAD
WHAT PURPOSE MY EXSTENCE NOW HAD
AND WHY DO MACHINES RESPOND TO MERE NOD OF MY HEAD....HEY!!!

I will have to admit after having gone through the process of determining what cards to use in this deck with you a multitude of times, I don't find anything here to be particularly surprising.

Are you using Khalni Gem as another infinite mana enabler? I'm also curious about the use of Snake Basket versus Orochi Hatchery--is it the difference in the initial cost? I would think having the ability to reuse it without having to return and recast it would be good.

I'm only posting it just so you can see, not because I'm digging for input on it.

Out of curiosity, why Myr Battlesphere? No activated ability to copy there.

Well, you can use Strionic Resonator, and then copy that ability. There's also Mimic Vat and Prototype Portal to consider.

Battlesphere is just a strong beater. If it dies, use Goblin Welder (or just use Welder to make a bunch of tokens). It also works well with Myr Turbine.

I'm testing out Khalni Gem for two reasons: Valakut and red mana. Throughout the testing process, I found out that manarocks are cool, but what limits me is the amount of actual red mana to fuel Kurkesh. I hope the Gem will help with that. Also, it can restart Vesuva, if need be.

Snake Basket must have angered the RNG god somehow, because I swear I drew the thing only about three times. That being said, it is drastically cheaper to use than Orochi Hatchery. One big burst of tokens is usually enough for me. BTW, that seems to be the case with me and Orochi Hatchery in general - I just find it too expensive and in every deck I've tried it in, I alwas ended up cutting it.

Nice list, I hope I'll get to see it in action soon! :) Seeing Mana Geyser in there reminds me I have it on the bench myself, as well as Mishra's Helix (!COMBO ALERT!).

Thanks! I was kinda hesitant about posting something like that in front of English speakers, but hey. Gotta have some fun, right? :)

Couple of reasons:

1) ETB goes well with Erratic/Prototype Portal (and Soul Foundry, if I end up including it)
2) Fetchable with Myr Turbine
3) Makes artifacts for Kuldotha Forgemaster to eat
4) Chump-blocks effectively
5) Tokens will rule when I add Dragon Throne of Tarkir (and I will  )
6) Same with Heartseeker and Surestrike Trident. While they do their basic work with Kurkesh himself, he is not an artifact, so he can't copy the unattach abilities off himself. I need mechs for that. Like a lot of other cards on the list, Heartseeker by itself is often overlooked (and rightly so) in favor of better alternatives. But with Kurkesh and two Myr tokens, I can kill two creatures for 5RR and be left just R away from sniping another two. Added up that's two mana per kill. Mr. K. tends to do that sort of thing with mediocre artifacts, it's what makes the deck fun to play
7) I just flat out needed a beater. A friend of mine tends to end up doing his combos and enjoying it so much, that he forgets to win. I was in danger of doing that, too, so I set out to find more wincons. For the reasons stated above, I've decided Katamari is the way to go.

EDIT: Ninja'd by Segrus in my own thread?! I don't even... :)

Red Mana Battery >>> Khalni Gem.

Although, I might have less trouble with activating Valakut since I'm also running Salvaging Station: pay {6} and search for four Mountains and put them into play with Wayfarer's Bauble, copied, returned, and copied again? Yes, please.

Fair enough. I was just curious since it and Wurmcoil Engine are the only things on your "wincon" list that don't obviously synergize with your general, and WCE is arguably stronger, whereas MBS is one you don't see often in EDH lists.

I used to run this in my Konda, equipment deck. "Attack with Konda, activate Heartseeker before blocks" is a thing.

Segrus, quick question:

i have Mirrorworks in play, I play a Gauntlet of Might, How much mana does my Mountain produce before the Mirrorworks trigger resolves?

It's cotb on Mirrorworks so it should tap for an extra R, right?

Yes, you have it right. Gauntlet of Might has to enter the battlefield before Mirrorworks will trigger. Since Gauntlet of Might is already on the battlefield, then Mountains you control will tap for an additional {R} mana.

The thing is, the triggered ability from Mirrorworks on the stack looks like, "You may pay {2} mana. If you do, ______." You pay the mana when you go to resolve the ability; you do not pay just to put the ability on the stack.

Antis, how has Avarice Totem gone for you? I feel like that card tends to just aggravate people more than produce fun game states. What have been your experiences with it?

I can't answer that question yet, I'm afraid. Haven't played many real people with this so far. It looks cute on paper, but I don't dwell on it too much, so if it proves to be annoying, rather than funny, I can let it go.

I guess I've only seen it create stalled out game states. If someone didn't have removal for it immediately, then everyone sat around with all of their mana open so they could try to interrupt the switching process.

UPDATE 11/18/2014:

SO! I've finally gotten to updating this thing to my current paper version. Granted, it's still missing a few key pieces and I'll mark them in the list. That said, it works nice and is a lot of fun.

The possibility of infinite mana combos bothers me a bit, but the deck has no tutoring and mana alone doesn't kill anyone on its own, it needs help. Also, disrupting the combo would require cutting Basalt Monolith, Rings of Brighthearth, Gilded Lotus and/or Voltaic Key, which in all those cases I'm just not ready to do. If anyone has a suggestion on how to escape this dilemma, I'd like to hear it.

Also, I'm still not sure whether I should run more lands. Right now I have 33 plus 12 mana rocks. Usually I'm alright after the first free mulligan, but it feels a little on the edge. Once the ramp cards kick in, mana begins to flood here in Onakke homeland, though, so it may just be ok.

The red C14 deck was a great source of material, as you might expect :)

The List: (*) means I want to get it back in there eventually
-Goblin Charbelcher (*)
-Snake Basket
-Tower of Champions
-Soul of New Phyrexia
-Tatsumasa, the Dragon's Fang (I hate to see this go, but after testing, the fantasy just didn't hold up against reality :( )
-Triskelion
-Pentavus
-Maze of Ith (no asterisk, 'cause I'm not getting another one anytime soon :) )
-Umezawa's Jitte (*) (huh, I've just noticed I originally listed it twice... oh well...)
-Oblivion Stone (*****)
-Lux Cannon (*)
-Perilous Vault (still torn on whether I should run this one...)
-Tower of Calamities
-Duplicant (*)
-Cloud Key (*)
-Crystal Ball
-Scarecrone (*)
-Clock of Omens (*)
-Power Matrix (*)
-Kuldotha Forgemaster (I probably won't be bringing this one back because of those infinite mana concerns)
-Urza's Blueprints (another card I'm sad to see go away, but better alternatives have cropped up *COUGH*Loreseeker's Stone*COUGH*)
-Darksteel Forge (*****)
-Mana Vault
-Coalition Relic
-Extraplanar Lens (*)
-Koth of the Hammer
-Khalni Gem
-Mountain
-Mountain
-Mountain
-Mountain
------------------------------------
+Surestrike Trident (this fantasy, however, hold up very well)
+Steel Hellkite
+Hellkite Igniter
+Trigon of Rage
+Loxodon Warhammer
+Heartseeker (same as with Surestrike Trident, I'm warming up to this card more and more with every game I draw into it)
+MINDSLAVER!!!
+Relic of Progenitus
+Pyrite Spellbomb (sometimes, you gotta appreciate the small things in life... especially with Salvaging Station on the table  )
+Scroll of Griselbrand (currently deciding between this, Disrupting Scepter and both)
+Torpor Orb
+Spawning Pit
+SALVAGING STATION!!! (HOW COULD I EVER LIVE WITHOUT YOU, MY LOVE!!!)
+Unwinding Clock
+Trading Post
+Voyager Staff
+Shimmer Myr
+Sculpting Steel (the biggest cog of them all  )
+Skullclamp
+Mind's Eye
+Loreseeker's Stone
+Soulbright Flamekin (better than ever in this deck)
+Stone Calendar (will probably be replaced with Cloud Key in the future)
+Mind Stone (for a time, there was Dreamstone Hedron, too, but it got cut eventually)
+UNSTABLE OBELISK!!! (drew into it, used it, instantly loved it :D )
+Springleaf Drum (I'm still testing it, but it seems to work nice)
+METALWORKER!!! (thanks, RC :) )
+Iron Myr
+Commander's Sphere (colored mana AND draw for free? Sign me in!)
+Reliquary Tower
+Tomb of the Spirit Dragon (a few extra life never killed anybody, I figure)
+TERRAIN GENERATOR!!! (this card has won games for me. Seriously.)

And...

SCRAP MASTERY!!!

Ahem.

I need to replace Relic of Progenitus with Tormod's Crypt/Phyrexian Furnace/Scrabbling Claws for better cross-cog interactivity (SALVAGING STATION!!!) in the grave-hate department. Speaking of the Almighty Station, I own a Lotus Bloom that would probably complement its utility package rather well.

I'm actually thinking about shelling some hard-earned cash for a Gauntlet of Might, if I see one around. And I don't even want to imagine what would this deck be able to do with a Candelabra of Tawnos... Maybe when I'm rich and famous :D

As always any kind of constructive advice/notes/suggestions is welcome. Doubt everything.

Antis out.

If you were to try to make this a competitive 1 vs 1 deck using the french rules.. what would you add and what would you cut? I am trying to make a mono color 1 vs 1 deck in all colors and this general looks interesting.
