 Post subject: Riku of Sliver Reflections

This is my first Draft of a Sliver deck with only three instead of 5 colors - sparked by the discussion about possibly keeping Slivers in only two colors (especially with Anax and Cymede as a starting point.) In two colors there are around 35 Sliver creatures to choose from (31 to 37 to be exact) some of which are just underwhelming *cough* Venser's Sliver *cough*
With one additional color this number rises to around 50 possible choices and really costs next to nothing in terms of versatility. Nowadays there's so much redundancy between the colors.
Without W and B, the only things one actually loses are:
- Protective abilities (Ward, Crystalline, Crypt,...)
- life gain (not really a great loss)
- Removal (Necrotic, Harmonic)

The big pros of RUG are:
- Card draw and Evasion (Blue)
- First- (and Double) strike, Power boost, Haste, and more Evasion (Red)
- Big Boost, Mana ramp, Tokens (Green)

A very potent weapon is Venom Sliver (Deathtouch) for its great synergies with Striking, Thorncaster, and Hunter Sliver.

Each sliver deck's achilles heel is Wraths, of course - with Blue in the mix, one can easily include some counterspells. Best draw so far was a turn 7 defeat of two opponents via Heart -> Virulent -> Two-Headed -> Bonesplitter -> Riku -> Belligerent with copy

As I said, this is the first Draft - As the deck seems to lack focus, changes are bound to happen.

Very interesting. Glad you went through with it :) Doesn't seem it has a lot of answers at the moment. I'm sorry, don't really have time for constructive advice right now, but it will happen, I promise. I would keep Blur Sliver, more haste is good. Are you sure about Nylea? She doesn't seem to do much for me, I'd let her go. Will be back later.

Purphoros seems really out of place to me and Thassa seems pretty meh as well. Blades of Velis Vel seems pretty weak, too. I wouldn't drop Might Sliver. Anthem effects are pretty important for letting your army of base 2/2 guys actually crank out sufficient damage.

I'd probably add some card advantage effects. Creeping Renaissance, Wild Pair, and Distant Melody are a few of the choices beyond the usual U and G card drawing effects that are pretty good in a strategy like this.

Dormant Sliver can also let you poop out an army without worrying nearly as much about it being swept away, and there are plenty of slivers who will graft a sacrifice ability onto it.

Frenetic Sliver is also great since it greatly shields against wrath effects. Losing half of your board is much less damaging. Extra special bonus for being one of those slivers that makes Dormant go away on command.

Tooth and Nail is a good stuff inclusion here that actually seems fair for once. If you have a board, it might let you win on the spot, but it isn't going to be the single-card win that it often is.

Progenitor Mimic, while not a Sliver, should deserve some consideration. It does draw in the ire of your neighbors, but what in this deck won't? :lol:

Getting a free Sliver every turn can't be beat. Well...I suppose you may be going for a more competitive build, in which cast Progenitor Mimic isn't quite as good--similarly for cards like Descendants' Path and Spitting Image. I think those are just what I'd end up putting into my build.
