So we are running a secret Saint Nic(ol Bolas) gift exchange, where people will get a random Magic: the Gathering card from their secret Elder Dragon. If you are interested in receiving (and giving, even though it is the receiving season) a card then please PM me. The current count of participants is up to: 27

All it takes is an envelope, a front loader, and a stamp or two (oh and the card of course).

Please feel free to post a 'requests' post with the type of cards that you would be most excited about getting (remember you're not going to get a black lotus so keep it realistic and remember these are requests you are not guaranteed to get any of them), make sure you send me a PM with your address so I can add you to the list. This is an EDH forum so EDH staples are probably the best type of card to send. Also altered or signed versions of cards help make your gift unique.

send something you'd like to get, but not something you're attached to.

Also the rules committee is setting a little gift for everyone who is participating (I believe it is 1 of each basic lands from a set signed by all of the RC), the shipping on this is coming out of their wallets (and mine) and if you are willing to help mitigate the costs please send a buck or two to my paypal account etproctor@gmail.com, please make sure you send as 'gift'.

If you don't see your name below that is because you didn't PM me with your address.

Ban Ki-Moon - No specific requests, though an alter would be nice (the crappier the better).

Bruticus - I would love to get something useful and that is altered. Check one of my links in my signature for my decklist and a card that you can alter well or poorly. Cool altered lands are always welcome, or just a neat looking foil land.

Celerus - I would like to receive any card (including basic lands although preferably foil, full art or non-English) from my Mayael decklist, altered and/or signed by the giver. It doesn't matter if the giver is a great artist or not. I just want something personalized.

CrazyPierre - As for a request, really anything is fine...though a foil Karplusan Forest would be swell. Whoever gets me please sign the card.

cryogen - Low dollar: Can't really think of anything. A hidden gem or wacky card I guess. High end: Legends edition Dakkon Blackblade English version), A man can dream, right?: altered Pegasus token of a MLP pegasus pony (preferably Derpy Hooves), or a Hermit Druid signed by Sheldon. I'm working on a W/B/G Stax list, so in addition to Legends Dakkon, I'd like to add any Planeswalker in those colors that would achieve that end, Smokestack, and Bitterblossom.

DLlama -

FinalLogic - I'm most interested in a wacky black bordered legendary creature that few people have ever made a deck out of. It'd make a good challenge. Alter it if you want as long as it's not defaced.

IGottaBigDeck - I'm open to almost anything - but foily and/or nicely altered cards would be appreciated perhaps a bit more than usual, even if its commons

Joz - non-foil decree of pain, though other EDH fun stuff is always good.

Kemev- Grixis wish: a non-Consecrated Sphinx blue staple.

misterQ - As per request, I second Sheldon! (My only request is uniqueness and pimpness. I just want something to remember.)

moraff - High End: Entomb, Gaea's Cradle, Maze of Ith. Medium End: Ajani, Caller of the Pride, Progenetis, GAAIV. Low End: Phelddagrif, Darien, King of Kjeldor, Venser's Journal

pinkflamingo - i would like something big, dumb and old for my type 4 stack or a funny old legend - Purraj of Urborg could be good.

pookel - weird old cards with effects that aren't printed any more or are off-color (I'm looking at you, Jabari's Influence). Commander Greven il-Vec. Alters, foils, or other spiffy versions of janky legends. Janky legends from the reserve list that are hard to find. Old promos and things with unusual set symbols. Basically, cheap but interesting stuff.

PottsRox - Low End: Izzet Charm(s) and or Mourning Thrulls with some fancy Sharpie work. (Does not need to actually be fancy. Please keep it PG, I play with kids.) High End: Foil and/or Altered Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir. (Same disclaimer.)

scatteredsun - (this is a value tiered list) 1. A Soldier token with a soldier holding a banana, 2. foil Darien, King of Kjeldor, 3. Any cool looking altered art general or a foil Mother of Runes

Sheldon - My only request is uniqueness and pimpness. I just want something to remember.

Shoe - send me a Hat made out of Gallowbraids...or just some goofy jank rares altered with christmas themed stuff i guess...the hat would be sweet. I'd take a Geist Snatch hat too. (Look on page 4 and you'll see a picture of what he's talking about).

shmebula - No special requests. I have something like 23 decks now, so something EDH worthy is sure to find a home.

thedarkheart - something for my jor kadeen, the prevailer equipment deck would be cool. Darigaaz, the igniter , treva, the renewer, rith, the awakener, crosis, the purger, dromar, the banisher not asking for all of them but one would be cool.

TheEvilCliff - I don't really have specific cards I need at this point. I would be happy with 'something awesome/cool/neat.' I like foreigns and foils and signed cards.

Tim Proctor - I request something specific, something that you think would be fun to play with. Something altered by you (sharpie is cool) that when I play it will make me smile and feel good. Something that my opponents can't deal with like Goat Tokens, or something like that.

titus - I'm happy to take whatever comes my way!

Viperion - I'll take anything A sharpied Crystal Ball would be fine

Willbender - My wishlist: Un-card foils / promos. Promo basic lands - stuff like APAC/Euro/MPS/etc.. Token promos. Altered-art awesomeness. Older set oddities - off-color and bizarre-effect cards. The more obscure the better.

X50isdafutureX - A foil Doran or a altered Doran of any kind would be nice. A altered Spiritmonger or Phantom Nishoba. A DCI Arena Karn or altered Karn, Silver Golem.

zimagic - Low end: The mother of all Zombie Tokens or a nice surprise. Medium: A nice surprise. High End: Balthor the Defiled as Thriller era Michael Jackson, a Santa-Taiga, or, surprisingly enough, a nice surprise.

I was wondering if anyone would be interested in a secret santa thing? All we need are a list of participants, each person randomly assigned a person and then we all mail a magic card (value depends on your generosity) to that person. Takes a top loader an envelope and a stamp, I've mailed many magic cards like that and never had a problem. They can take a while to set up and have in the mail and stuff before Grixis day (being Jewish I don't celebrate Christmas but ol' saint Nicol Bolas's birthday I'll celebrate) so I figured that I should post this sooner rather than later.

I'd be up for this...There is a cool version of this on MTGSalvation where people alter the cards (poorly or high quality it matters not) and then send them out. I used to do this all the time until sally filled up with d-bags. I'd be up for it

Here are the cards I sent in past years:

Tim, I assume you're going to collect and distribute the addresses?

I'm game.

@Sheldon, I can, I'm assuming that I've just been voluntold that I am.

I'll put everyone into an Excel spreadsheet and use the random number generator to divvy up the secret Nicol Bolas's, all people need to do is to send me their name/address and I'll populate the spreadsheet and then on the 5th of December (should give everyone plenty of time) I'll PM people with their target (should give everyone enough time to send out).

Is there a way that we can possibly get this stickied until then? So that we can maximize on the Grixis cheer?

I'm keen :) 5th December might be too late for me though given I'm in New Zealand (for those worried about overseas postage, a single card in a single topload costs about twice as much as normal letter)

Accepting non-US entrants?

(Oh, and although Saint Nic(ol Bolas) is pretty clever I think you'll find it's Naya season - Red, Green and White ;) )

Yeah, and Grixis season goes from whenever Nicol Bolas decides to whenever he decides so if it doesn't make it by the 25th it shouldn't be that big of an issue. Since AZN only still costs under a buck it shouldn't matter to much to the person who gets to send to you.

Oh and Palladia-Mors used to have the season until Nicol Bolas killed him and took it for his own.

I'm running one of these for another MtG site, but I'd be down to participate here.

Do we put wishlists here or is it going to just be "send people whatever"?

I'm interested in doing this.

I would offer to make a custom foil, but they are just for generals and not universal. I'd hate to send someone a Kresh when their general is Karrthus.

I do have some fun signed cards around.

I've got a Commander blog: http://wordofcommander.blogspot.com/ and it includes my custom-foil generals and how to make them!

If you're into the finance side of things, look me up in the Casual Fridays column on the MTGPrice Blog.

Enjoy!

Pretty sure in that scenario, you switch generals

Tim, it'd also be nice to have some kind of guidelines on what we're sending. I intend to come up with something unique and awesome, but an idea of the direction we're headed would be great.

This. I think the usual minimum for these is $25, and while I intend to send (far) more than that, without a wishlist to go off of I kind of want some rules since I'm not exactly keen on "Yeah, just ship someone a pile of cool stuff and hope they like it."

I don't think a monetary requirement is necessary, we shouldn't exclude people with a price tag...IMHO just send some cards and hope they like it worked great over on MTGS for the 3 years I did it there. The fact that the cards were altered in same unique way made them fun and I was never disappointed and I kept all of the cards because of the uniqueness.
