I vote no.

Giving people back their toys is never a good idea - Dragon's Blood is better then letting them have even a basic land back from their graveyard.

I say it depends on what you want from your deck and out of a game. If you want to win or your opponents have relatively strong decks, I wouldn't use the Advocate. If those are not primary concerns, go for it - it's a really fun card to play because it gives you so many possibilities for minor meddling and just makes your game a lot more interactive.

And it's definitely not group hug. It's a quite specific way to give someone a certain tool, the use of which can be negotiated before you do it... at least with opponents who appreciate the "social" part.

The good thing about this guy I feel is that he comes down in the really early phases of the game, which can make him build to something fairly powerful. Scavenging Ooze creates some really nice tomfoolery too and you can use the hugging to be unbelievably agitating for a deck like Marchesa the Black Rose. I might have to consider him for one of Yasova's 99.
