So, with Birthing Pod banned in Modern I'm expecting the price to come down and, as a result, I might consider buying one. Is Birthing Pod a useful card for Commander? What kind of deck should I run it in? Would a Yisan, the Wanderer Bard deck be something interesting to pair it up with?

I'm not planning on making anything world shattering (or paying through the nose for such a deck), but I've never seen it used in Commander and would just like people's opinions.

The card is good in any deck with value creatures or creature-based combos. So, yeah, it's good in EDH.

I think the only adjustment I made to my Rith deck when I added it was to include one more 5-drop.

Birthing Pod is generally very good for commander if you have etb or dies triggers and any semblance of a mana curve. It is somewhat annoying to play against because of the time spent shuffling, and you had better know your decklist forward and back to avoid taking turns that are too long. I think it (and Hibernation's End) would both be great in a Yisan deck. Since you are going to be searching your deck a bunch anyway, you can just shortcut and do one shuffle at the end of your turn (or before you draw a card).

Birthing pod is fantastic, yes.

Yisan, the wanderer bard, on the other hand, is only good with seedborn muse.

I run Birthing Pod in 3 different decks. Rubinia Soulsinger, Scion of the Ur-Dragon (but it is coming out as soon as I update for FRF) and Momir Vig, Simic Visionary tribal elves.

It can be a blow out sometimes it is just okay. I think of it as kind of face-up tutoring, not always right but useful.

Well, wouldn't you know it, I managed to pick up a Seedborn Muse for pretty much half price yesterday afternoon, before I even made this post.

I run Birthing Pod in my Stonebrow deck. It's a good way to get past countermagic too so it's a huge plus for me in my Meta.

I like Birthing Pod in a "expensive" (meaning high CMC) tribal decks.

I have it in my beast tribal, since they are all in the same mana range, it lets me get something if I need it. But I don't have it planned for ETB/Dies effects or combos. As the below shows, it hasn't come up very often.

Stupidity Hidden (but not deleted)
Rather than doing the standard "Value creatures" "Triggers" activating the pod once every turn., I use it as a sac outlet. For example, when one of my Beasts or such would have Bad Things (tm) happen to it and to get a replacement beast. Since most of the deck is 4-8 CMC, almost anything gets almost anything else. It doesn't have to be a combo or ETB/Die effect to have " In response to your exile on Garruk's Horde I'll Birthing Pod into Godsire" to be a good play.

Basically I use it to make my "expensive" tribes like Beasts more "affordable."

Editied to fix my "respond before thinking" mistake.
