Library of Alexandria is not overpowered by EDH standards, compared to cards like sol ring, necropotence, mana crypt, mana drain, and other absurdities. It produces colorless mana and you have to keep exactly seven cards in your hand for it to draw you a card.
Its another utility land along the same power level as strip mine and maze of ith. Just because it costs $150 due to being printed as an Arabian Nights Rare does not mean it should be banned.
In EDH the chances of getting LOA in your opening hand are so slim, most likely you'll have nowhere near 7 cards in hand when you topdeck it. It is NOT overpowered in this format.
Rant over. :P

This is either a brilliantly-timed satire or an abysmally timed genuine argument.

This is not a satire... the card is good, necessary to optimalize most decka, but not broken enough to be banned as it only boosts a deck by 1% or so power levelwise over a basic. Sure, I like to optimalize, which is why I object to it being banned, but I think cards should be banned for power level. If I was the rules committee I would ban
1) Ancestral Recall
2) Time Walk
3) Karakas
4) Limited Resources
5) Channel
6) Necropotence
7) Tinker
8. Yawgmoth's Bargain
9. Shahrazad, manual dexterity, ante
Not the Library

I agree with unbanning. Banning cards just for $$$ makes no sense and the card isn't as overpowered as other cards.

I have to agree with the previous posters - I was really surprised to find that Library was banned when I first picked up the format and hope it gets unbanned in future. The EDH cardpool is big enough, and the amount of land destruction already played prevalent enough, that it would easily be kept in check. (Or Vesuved!)

I mean the damn card barely gets a sniff in Vintage these days - where else are we going to play it?! :)

I really don't see the point of having this discussion AGAIN. Nothing has changed in the situation, so really the only discussion can be on the philosophy of banning insanely expensive cards to keep the format accessible.

I'm sorry to be OT, but I seriously just fell off my chair because I was laughing so damn hard.

Does anybody even bother to read/or search/or lurk?

That's not ban-worthy, that's the spirit of EDH. Three-card combo involving the combat phase? Awesome.

More proof that blue needs banning.

The banned list just means you need to ask permission before playing the card. Library shouldn't be too hard to replace on the fly (put in a basic land), so just saying something like, "Hey guys, I've got this Library of Alexandria and I want to play it. I know it's on the banned list, but it's really cool" should be sufficient. If people are okay with it, then you can use it, and if people aren't then you can't. Even though it's on the banned list it's still ultimately up to the playgroup.
