Hi, I have a question. How many poison counters do you have to have to lose in EDH? Just wondering cuz I want to play Skithiryx as my general. Thanks!

tempesteye-I really only used this deck to illustrate that I even though I can build degenerately, I choose not to.

imRauSch-I'm not really familiar with Braids decks, so I'm wondering what is not degenerate about this build? It just seems to abuse her ability in every possible way...

There is no reason at all to believe such a change will be made.

There's not much to really do an infect EDH deck. Give it the next set or two then you could make a dedicated deck for such a strategy.

Also, doubt it would twist up EDH really.

I'm not trying to make an infect edh deck, just a MBC deck with Skithiryx as my win con. Thanks for telling me guys!

At this point, we haven't even discussed talking about changing the poison number.

He's not a good MBC general? The recurring Damnation on a stick? Wow, I always thought of him as a contender for top MBC.

My play group has decided to set the number of poison counters required to kill an somebody to 20, and poison counters from a general at 11. Poison is a more efficient way to kill somebody vs. lethal damage, and giving poison a 4-to-1 vs. 2-to-1 advantage in EDH seemed a bit unfair (especially with Skithiryx decks--that + Contagion Engine + Ichor Rats = gross). But our group tends to double the amount of life or damage required for alt-win conditions in general (e.g., Felidar Sovereign), so this was more-or-less in keeping with our usual practices.

Seems like a reasonable and consistent thing to do. Enjoy!

After playing a few games against it in my group, I would support a change for poison. Ten poison counters can happen way too quickly once Contagion Engine & Contagion Clasp are on the board. (Of course, it doesn't help when the guy plays a turn 2 Plague Stinger in EDH - no one normally has blocking fliers out that quickly). It will only get worse as the next sets come out...

If someone is playing Plague Stinger and they win with it, they really deserved to (and you all need to scratch your heads).

Two questions:
-What would you want to accomplish with upping the poison count?

-And more importantly, what adjustments have you made to your decks since you've seen poison played in your group?
The fact that someone with a new deck beats the crap out off your old decks doesnt mean the new deck, mechanics it uses or even certain cards are broken or overpowered. It could also mean that the problem isn't in his deck but in yours (or your play style).
