Shahrazad is legal for play in EDH.

It's just an extra rule, it doesn't need to be there, noone will notice if it disappeared.

Shahrazad isn't vintage legal, that's why its an exception to the rules.

Thankyou, I wrote the first post poorly.

Shahrazad is legal for play in EDH.

It's just an extra rule, it doesn't need to be there, noone will notice if it disappeared. This will mean a banning of shahrazad.

Excepting, of course, the people that like to play with Shaharazad. I personally would be fine with this banning - I have never seen it played or considered playing it, but it seems like a source of great annoyance to most people.

Sorry misunderstood what you were asking for.

I don't have an opinion one way or the other as to it be banned. If the play group is smart they'll just let it be a card that for WW halves the life total of all opponents. It's when you have players who actually paly the sub-game is when it gets annoying.

In case it was lost, my point is that you actually have to have an extra rule for EDH to make this legal.

Philosophically speaking, I like things minimal. In fact, the EDH committee have a minimal approach when it comes to the official ban list. This doesn't concern the ban list though, this is minimizing EDH rules players have to remember.

I think this rule could just disappear.

of course it could... but why would we lose such a fun card for the sake of simplicity? Yes not everyone likes it, but I'm thinking I may have to pick on up now and see how many groans I get at the table.

I think that the RC leaves it there as a flagship card that sends the message that EDH is a wide open format, though quite different than Type I, where a huge variety of cards can be played. While I don't think they honestly expect to have to sit down with someone running that card, just having that rule sends the message to new EDH players that this is a fun format where crazy things can, will and should happen.

This is Irritating because my playgroup has to then go back around and Re-ban it. and What Shahrazad does is completly anti-social. the person who Twincasts\Forks\plays it with a Hive mind in play is looking for people to concede the sidegames. because to them Shahrazad reads WW: All opponents lose half their life rounded up. Making it far more brutal than Magister Sphinx\Sorin could ever hope to be.

... then why don't you play it out?

I mean if a game of EDH is fun, how is another game not fun?

That's not ban-worthy, that's the spirit of EDH. Three-card combo involving the combat phase? Awesome.

I was playing EDH last night at my college. I smelt smoke and we saw someone smoking outside, it must have been getting through the windows. We of course all chip in to say how much we hate smoking, one of my friends says "I just don't understand how someone can admit they didn't like smoking for the first six months because they had to get used to the smell. Why don't they just not smoke in the first place!"

To which I answered "I can answer that but it'd take half an hour".

TopazDragon, I can answer that but it would take half an hour.

I'm hesitant to believe that story since you ninja-edited the quote (it used to say 10 minutes) but in any case, would you care to indulge those of us with inferior cognitive abilities? Some reasoning goes a long way to convincing people of something rather than just saying, "Trust me. Shahrazad is bad."
