What deck building challenge? This one :)

Mayael the Anima

Bringin' the Beats (2, 3, 4, 5...):
Akroma, Angel of Wrath
Akroma, Angel of Fury (sooo disappointing :( )
Rumbling Slum
Deathless Angel
Mossbridge Troll
Pelakka Wurm
Mycoid Shepherd
Godsire
Stalking Vengeance
Bogardan Hellkite
Gaea's Revenge
Meglonoth
Dust Elemental
Spellbreaker Behemoth
Timbermare
Oversoul of Dusk
Spectral Force
Angelic Arbiter
Artisan of Kozilek
Eternal Dragon
Liege of the Tangle
Plated Slagwurm
Rhox
Spearbreaker Behemoth
Terastodon
Tornado Elemental
Twilight Shepherd
Woodfall Primus

Killing the other mans
Path to Exile
Swords to Plowshares
Wrath of God
Chain Reaction (so good!)
Austere Command
Desert Twister

Getting the Mana
Birds of Paradise
Joraga Treespeaker
Rampant Growth
Sylvan Scrying
Solemn Simulacrum
Kodama's Reach
Cultivate
Reap and Sow
Harrow
Mirari's Wake
Krosan Tusker (is mostly here for the land search. Occasionally a Mayael target)

There's nothin' funnier than a Bird carrying a fork:
Sword of Light and Shadow
Umezawa's Jitte
Lightning Greaves

Gettin' the right creature to the right place
Congregation at Dawn
Cream of the Crop
Reclaim

Random Good Stuff
Sensei's Divining Top (going to replace with Mirri's Guile if I get one)
Momentous Fall
Greater Good
Eternal Witness
Regrowth
Krosan Grip
Mayael's Aria
Naya Charm
Pure // Simple (not very impressed with this but is occasionally useful)
Breath of Life
Faith's Fetters
Garruk Wildspeaker
Harmonize
Soul's Majesty (you'd think this would be better than Harmonize but it's just not that good :? )

The purty purty lands
Temple Garden
Stomping Ground
Sacred Foundry
Boros Garrison
Selesnya Sanctuary
Gruul Turf
Wooded Bastion
Rugged Prairie
Fire-Lit Thicket
Tranquil Thicket
Forgotten Cave
Secluded Steppe
Arid Mesa
Wooded Foothills
Spinerock Knoll (want the other two as well but can't find them anywhere...)
Skarrg, the Rage Pits
Sunhome, Fortress of the Legion
Exotic Orchard
Reflecting Pool
Gemstone Mine
Grove of the Burnwillows
Horizon Canopy
Rootbound Crag
Sunpetal Grove
4 Plains
3 Mountains
5 Forests

I'm going to take the Swords and Jitte out of this deck; it doesn't really need them and they're going into other decks instead.

Any suggestions for what to put in in their place?

Cheers,
Viperion

Scroll Rack--Sounds absolutely amazing here.
Reclaim--Puts dead beats on top of the deck for Mayael.
Worldly Tutor--Mayael pulls the beats you want for 1 more G.
Flamekin Harbinger--Gets one of 7 elementals withing reach of Mayael. Less awesome than tutor, but still nice.

Speaking of elementals, you should run Hateflayer. It flays hate! Hate and faces. Avenger of Zendikar, too. If you go avenger, I would almost demand you run Overwhelming Stampede. Hell, you might want to try it anyway. Worst case, you double one big creatures power and give it trample.

Phyrexian Rebirth clears the field and leaves you with a beater.

I would love to have a Scroll Rack to put in here. They're hard to find around these here parts... Having said that I actually don't have too much trouble hardcasting most of my beaters, and it doesn't matter too much if I pay 6 for Mayael's ability or 7 or 8 for a card from my hand; either way it's still one spell per turn, pretty much. Mayael is really REALLY good with no cards in hand though; you can have no cards and no creatures except Mayael and people STILL don't attack you because of what might come off the top of your deck :)

 Soooo obvious. Was my absolute favourite card in 9th ed drafts. Can't believe I missed it. Thanks!

Will try and get my hands on one :)

Huh. Didn't realise I had that many Elementals. Cool. Might put him in and see what happens :) (And maybe have a look around for a few more, maybe)

You're not the first to suggest Hateflayer. I'm not completely sold, but will try it and see. I've been looking for an Avenger for a while too.

I really don't need it (Thinking about cutting Garruk for the same reason). My creatures are almost always the biggest ones out there anyway, and the few that don't have some kind of evasion (Flying, Protection, Trample) can be targeted by Skarrg if necessary.

[/quote]I opened one of those in a draft a few weeks ago - it's definitely worth playing, after resolution it's just this guy, ya know? It'll find a place in on of my decks, but probably not this one :)

Thanks for the reply!
