I've lurked on this forum for a while now, but just joined recently. I wanted to post my Augustin deck and see what people think of it. :D I have quite a few EDH decks, but this one is definitely my "meanest," to pull out when I want to win. It uses lockdown pieces and a couple combos to win, with some other good stuff thrown in. The deck:

General
1 Grand Arbiter Augustin IV

Creatures
1 Academy Rector
1 Azorius Guildmage
1 Ethereal Usher
1 Fatespinner
1 Guile (Used with Dovescape for infinite birds)
1 Hanna, Ship's Navigator
1 Keiga, the Tide Star
1 Kira, Great Glass-Spinner
1 Linvala, Keeper of Silence
1 Magus of the Moat
1 Shapesharer
1 Sun Titan
1 Trinket Mage
1 Windborn Muse

Planeswalkers
1 Tezzeret the Seeker

Spells
1 Aura of Silence
1 Austere Command
1 Azorius Signet
1 Beacon of Tomorrows(Used with Planar Portal for a very mana-expensive infinite turn combo. For those reaaally long games)
1 Bribery
1 Call to Mind
1 Condemn
1 Copy Enchantment
1 Crucible of Worlds
1 Cryptic Command
1 Darksteel Ingot
1 Day of Judgment
1 Decree of Silence (lots of fun in 1-on-1 with Academy Rector)
1 Desertion
1 Dovescape
1 Enlightened Tutor
1 Ensnaring Bridge
1 Fabricate
1 Gauntlet of Power
1 Ghostly Prison
1 Gilded Lotus
1 Hallowed Burial
1 Hinder
1 Idyllic Tutor
1 Land Tax
1 Long-Term Plans
1 Merchant Scroll
1 Mystical Tutor
1 Oblivion Ring
1 Path to Exile
1 Planar Cleansing
1 Planar Portal
1 Propaganda
1 Replenish
1 Return to Dust
1 Rhystic Study
1 Sapphire Medallion
1 Scroll Rack
1 Sensei's Divining Top
1 Smokestack
1 Sol Ring
1 Soothsaying
1 Sphere of Resistance
1 Story Circle
1 Swords to Plowshares
1 Tangle Wire
1 Treachery
1 Tunnel Vision (used with Condemn and Hinder for an instant win against one opponent)
1 Vedalken Orrery
1 Wrath of God

Land
1 Ancient Den
1 Azorius Chancery
1 Boseiju, Who Shelters All
1 Calciform Pools
1 Eiganjo Castle
1 Flagstones of Trokair
1 Glacial Fortress
13 Island
1 Kor Haven
1 Nimbus Maze
6 Plains
1 Prahv, Spires of Order
1 Seat of the Synod
1 Skycloud Expanse
1 Strip Mine
1 Tolaria West
1 Vesuva

The deck is made up mostly of artifact mana ramp, lockdown spells such as Smokestack and Tangle Wire (with Crucible of worlds to back me up). I left out Armageddon to help reduce my douchebag factor. The deck lets me win by making sure my opponent isn't able to get his big fatties out, while I assemble a combo, or beat him to death with small creatures (which is always a sort of amusing outcome).

What do you think? I am open to all suggestions. However I'm not interested in a lot of cards over the $10 range unless they're very good, I like to keep my EDH decks on somewhat of a budget.

If you going to be taxing your opponent that heavy, these guys seem good:

Rishadan Cutpurse
Dream Tides
Gulf Squid
Turnabout
Exhaustion
Floodgate

I try to avoid lockdown effects that last only one turn or only target one player. Often I play multiplayer, and I find effects that last one turn more of an expensive stall, and I'd rather use the slot in my deck for something with a permanent effect.

I do like the Dream Tides, though. I just don't like the specific green hatred (seems unfriendly in EDH), or that the player can pay to get around it. Does anyone know of any other cards with a similar effect?

Arena of the Ancients - great for generals :D
Crackdown / Marble Titan / Meekstone
Equipoise - only good if you have permanents in excess to target opponent
Intruder Alarm
Juntu Stakes - good for dealing with token creatures and elves

Otherwise, the usual Propaganda, Ghostly Prison, War Tax, and Collective Restraint work great.

In terms of lockdown, There are few cards as good as fucking with utility creatures and generally slowing down the game as much as Humility. It'll make taking a table of hate pretty stupidly easily, especially once you add some non-creature token makers.

Would love to use Humility, but not sure the people I play with would aprrove, heh heh.

As for meekstone, that should have already been on my deck list. It's a great card, especially with Trinket Mage. :D
