A long time coming I'm posting an update :lol:

Academy Rector --> Moldgraf Monstrosity
Paleoloth --> Thundermaw Hellkite
Stoneforge Mystic --> Wild Ricochet
[BANNED] Sylvan Primordial --> Yosei, the Morning Star
Glory --> Xenagos, God of Revels
Condemn --> Path to Exile
Reap and Sow --> Mana Vault
Garruk's Packleader --> Cultivate

In some regards, quite a lot of changed since 2013... and in others it's been very much the same. I'm very happy with the performance of Mayael with how my LGS's meta has shifted over the past few years. I don't win regularly but it puts up a good game which is what I enjoy. We've gone from tokens and crazy tribal decks, to a period of some very cutthroat and unfun combo builds, to a painfully short period of just-for-fun jank (I wish we stayed here), and now we're shifting into a possible EDH League (which I'm afraid will just go back to the unfun combo and cutthroat BS).

Some old sacred cows of the deck have been released. Stoneforge Mystic, Paleoloth, Reap and Sow, and most recently Garruk's Packleader have all come out. Yosei is a card I've been trying to get in the deck since almost the beginning, and it's very good now that it's here. :)

If there's another sacred cow to move out it'd be Silklash Spider, which would really pain me. I feel like adding something like Hull Breach or another fatty would make the deck slightly better. We'll see what happens.

Amazingly well. I do not miss the cycling ability of Akroma's Vengeance. The shear power of "3-mana wipe + follow up play" is terrific. The 3rd white mana in its cost is definitely a heavy toll, but my mana base and color fixing is sufficient for getting there 9.5/10 times.

For the average Mayael player I'd say Hour of Revelation is a solid inclusion. 8) If the Mayael build is particularly "go wide" (like fatties that produce tokens), I may recommend Austere Command before Hour of Revelation, but I'd still recommend this.

Honestly, I've been more disappointed in Rishkar's Expertise. I want a pure card draw spell that's a bit more.... well, more. As I said above, the cycling on Akroma's Vengeance is blah, but I want something along the lines of Greater Good but to grab me cards when I'm behind or on the back foot. Cream of the Crop doesn't feel like raw card draw. Selvala's Stampede feels like it's a trap (ex: empty hand in top deck mode), however it has insane potential. I may end up switching into the Stampede for the next season and see how that works out

How about Nissa's Revelation? It's super expensive but "Draw 5 (or more) and gain 5 (or more) seems like exactly what you want if you're on the back foot in topdeck mode. The chance of whiffing seems pretty small.

That's.... actually not bad. It doesn't get me any creatures in play, but it does life buffer and draw cards. Gonna put Nissa's Revelation on the maybe list.
