General: Progenitus (rarely gets played when cards like Humility are in play)

Creatures:

Academy Rector
Yep, that's it.

Protect Me and My Stuff:

Collective Restraint
Dueling Grounds
Ghostly Prison
Propaganda
Kor Haven
Ivory Mask
Karmic Justice
No Mercy
Spirit of Resistance
Moat
Privileged Position
Maze of Ith

Disruption:

Frozen Aether
Kismet
Aura of Silence
City of Solitude
Humility
Negate
Oblivion Ring
Vile Consumption
Smoke
Spreading Plague
The Abyss
Burning Sands
Tainted Aether

Tutors:

Conflux (truly this card is the bomb)
Demonic Tutor
Enlightened Tutor
Sterling Grove
Idyllic Tutor
Tolaria West (probably should just be an Expedition Map)
Vampiric Tutor

Sweepers:

Damnation
Day of Judgment
Decree of Pain
Evacuation
Jokulhaups (so juicy when the board is clear except your enchantments)
Rout
Winds of Rath
Wrath of God

Card Advantage:

Enchantress's Presence
Future Sight
Honden of Seeing Winds
Maelstrom Nexus
Mind's Eye
Phyrexian Arena

Miscellaneous:

Copy Enchantment
Mirari's Wake
Replenish
Prismatic Omen
Obelisk of Alara

Actually Damage Opponents:

Vicious Shadows
Polluted Bonds
Wound Reflection

Mana:

Arid Mesa
Badlands
Bayou
Bloodstained Mire
Cascade Bluffs
Coalition Relic
Exotic Orchard
Fetid Heath
Fire-Lit Thicket
Flooded Grove
Flooded Strand
Graven Cairns
Island
Marsh Flats
Misty Rainforest
Mystic Gate
Plains
Plateau
Polluted Delta
Reflecting Pool
Reliquary Tower
Rugged Prairie
Savannah
Scalding Tarn
Scrubland
Serra's Sanctum
Sol Ring
Sunken Ruins
Swamp
Taiga
Tropical Island
Tundra
Twilight Mire
Underground Sea
Verdant Catacombs
Vivid Crag
Vivid Creek
Vivid Grove
Vivid Marsh
Vivid Meadow
Volcanic Island
Windswept Heath
Wooded Bastion
Wooded Foothills

The point is to lock down the board with enchantments and eventually win with Vicious Shadows. I admit, this is a very douchy deck, and gets much hate in our playgroup, but I only break it out every once in a while.

Thoughts:

* The mana base really works. Fetches, duals, filters, and Vivids get the job done. It haven't had a problem getting the colors and amounts I need. I think any five-color deck I build will have a similar set of lands.

* Need to ditch Negate and Vile Consumption. I seem to always cascade into Negate off of Maelstrom Nexus (doesn't seem helpful when the only spell on the stack is your own) and Vile Consumption hasn't been that powerful.

* There's obviously a ton of creature hate, as there are no creatures in the library besides Academy Rector, and I'm not sad if he hits the graveyard. :) Humility with Moat or Dueling Grounds keeps the creature attack efficiency to a minimum.

This may not be an original deck idea, but I certainly didn't see any lists or suggestions before I started building it. I'd appreciate any critiques or suggestions.

I know you're trying to minimize the number of creatures in the deck but Auramancer could be an option for recursion. Crystal Chimes is another card that I find works well for recursion. You may or may not need it but it's a nice option too.

I was surprised to see the Greater Auramancy is missing from your list. It's strictly worse than Sterling Grove in your deck but it fills a role.

With few creatures I can see Burning Sands making an impact, especially since you say this deck already has a sour reputation. I seem to be recommending it a lot lately to decks that are creature light and I'm not sure if I should...

Thanks for the tips! I've never seen it before, but Crystal Chimes especially seems like a great card for this deck.

I opted for Privileged Position over Greater Auramancy since it also protects lands and others from stealing Academy Rector. :)

Both Burning Sands and Tainted Aether do a nice job of keeping creature-heavy and tokens decks in check.

The fact that you run Tainted Aether got me thinking about ways that people would play around this deck and to combat that I think you should run Vedalken Orrery to spring various enchantments and other effects on people. Playing Tainted Aether in response to a one shot token making effect sounds pretty nasty and it lets you tutor at instant speed.

Along the lines of using Orrery to spring enchantments on players that can normally be played around are the token punishing enchantments of Aether Flash and Night of Soul's Betrayal which can neuter entire strategies. For additional mana fixing you could run Forbidden Orchard to give opponents a token, feeding it into Tainted Aether or a Aether Flash with Burning Sands on the board and giving them a world of hurt. Otherwise helps you with player politics that you might need to take part in while running this deck.

I agree, flashing stuff in will be helpful; I think Leyline of Anticipation will work in that regard, and it's an enchantment to boot!

Aether Flash used to be in the deck, but it's been cut for other cards.

I like Parallax Tide with the Polluted Bonds also you can Capsize the Parallax Tide back for reusable fun (and it is faster than waiting for it to slowly fade away). I am not sure how powerful this actually would be but I used to have a deck that won with Ankh of Mishra and the Tide and I loved it!

Actually, both Parallax Wave and Parallax Tide work well with Capsize and sacrifice effects if you can recurr them.
