Hello people of the forums! I've returned after a nice long hiatus and I'm back into the EDH spirit! This newest creation of mine is based off one of the few Un-cards to ever be given a true functional reprint, The Cheese Stands Alone. Most Barren Glory decks you'll see are more of your standard boring Apocalypse/Hellcarver Demon-type shenanigans, but this one will be much more... off the beaten path. Instead of focusing on trying to get some specific combination of cards to do the trick, I decided a much more fun and interactive approach would be to try to get the deck to run based off sacrifice and discard outlets. I decided that in order to save space, and prevent the deck from being jam-packed with staples, I would use (almost) zero creature sac, and the few creatures in the deck are all ones who can kill themselves off if need be. Atogatog is the perfect general for the deck; as the Atog tribe is represented by sac outlets and he himself can go away at a moment's notice when the time comes.

The gameplay is pretty simple. Ramp early, tutor Glory ASAP, get it into play while you have the means to destroy your own position, and survive the following turn cycle. To help decrease your vulnerability, there are a decent number of cheap counterspells and GY recursion, and there's also the cheap extra turn cards so you don't have to wait for upkeep.

This is pretty hilarious. It seems really weak, but that's not necessarily a bad thing, especially when it comes to win out of nowhere combos.

I wonder how many times people will give you cards in hand or permanents in response to the trigger to prevent you from winning? Having a Phelddagrif player at the table would be the worst for this deck.

Haha mate!
I just posted about BG then I saw this. Your list is way different than mine but I like it. However I think you could benefit from taking a look at my take on The Cheese Stands Alone (viewtopic.php?f=16&t=18563&p=226701#p226701)

you can find me on mtgo under the same username

Silly question, but since you are already running Atogatog, why not run some of the other Atogs, especially since they can help with setting up the Glory win? Glory was an alternate wincon in my friend's Atogatog deck, but he ended up not using it so much and took it out. Lithatog, Phantatog, Psychatog, and Thaumatog all pretty much help with that.

No one's using Barren Glory, Oblivion Ring (or Detention Sphere), and Worldpurge (keeping 0 cards)?

I've got this in my Arcades Sabboth deck as an out-of-nowhere win. Of course, I use The Cheese Stands Alone but keep a copy of Barren Glory on hand.
