After playing a big butts Phenax deck, I kept thinking about unusual ways to make her mill work. I always wished I had more creatures out. This lead me to tokens of course. I thought about all the fun U/B token cards and realized it could work. Buff lots of small dudes and either token swarm for the win or potentially mill the crap out of people. Then I thought "How do I buff in U/B?" Zombies? Sure, lots of lords, usual artifact stuff, BORING. Lots of zombie decks at my LGS. What other tribes are there in blue/bla........OMGRATS!!!!! LOOOOOOOOTS OF RATS! RELENTLESS SWARMS OF RATS! That led to this deck.

It has a few different ways to win. I can go aggro and swing with a bunch of rats that fly from either Wonder or Akroma's Memorial. I can mill people and stop Eldrazi with Stifle, Trickbind or Leyline of the Void. Or, the usual game plan, I can mill myself and dump my graveyard (and possibly others too) on to the table with Living Death et al.

Coat of Arms is great in tribal rat decks. Between that, Marrow-Gnawer, and Thrumming Stone, I've enjoyed having Brainspoil in my Sygg's River Rats deck.

Swarm of Rats is not so great; you're probably better off with another Relentless Rat in that slot.

Snapcaster Mage can give you a way to make people weep if you're self-milling and hit Patriarch's Bidding.

Oversold Cemetery is pretty good for recovery post-wrath.

Force of Will seems pretty bad in your deck; you don't have many blue spells to pitch. Pact of Negation or Arcane Denial would be my choices for that slot depending on whether you are more concerned about firing it off when you're tapped out or having it be cheap in total mana. Mana Drain is also nice if you have one, but that is a big ol' stack of dollars.

I can't run Coat of Arms any more. Bites me in the ass too often at my LGS :)

DAMN, stupid Swarm of Rats...didn't finish reading the card. Thought its PT was number of rats, not just P. It'll go

Oversold isn't bad. It's always treated me well.

Force has never let me down but that's a good point about lack of blue. I'll probably never drop the cash for a Mana Drain so I'll toss AD or Last Word or something in.

I'll swap Swarm for Snapcaster. Good call. I'm going to throw in Yawgmoth's Will too.

Finally put this deck together. It's a blast to play. I find milling myself for tons and then Living Death et al is a better way to go. At multiple points I could swarm everyone with rats or Mill everyone.

I need to update the list, there are some that got cut or didn't make it.

I want to add:

Thousand-Year Elixir
Laboratory Maniac
Vedalken Orrery
Leyline of Anticipation
Leyline of the Void
Quicken

updated decklist. The biggest problem with this deck is I tend to always be the target! :)

Thrumming Stone? Also, why no Ink-Eyes, servant of Oni, I feel offended.

I left Thrumming Stone out, it was a bit overkill. Not sure where Ink-Eyes went...he's in my list. I'll add him back.

Lol awesome. I'm probably going to hear "why are you not running thrumming stone" or "cabal coffers but no Urborg?"

I ditched Coat of Arms for Lilly Vess and Phyrexian Arena for Slate of ancestry to help me with laboratory maniac

I also dropped King Macar for Ink Eyes

Dang. I just noticed I forgot to toss boseiju in.

-Slate of Ancestry +Think Twice
-Crypt Ghast +Balthor, the Defiled
-Demonic Tutor +Increasing Ambition
-Oversold Cemetery +Dread Return
-Plague Wind +In Garruk's Wake

Maybe find a spot for Dralnu, Lich Lord?

What's going on here? Think Twice seems... suboptimal to say the least. I suppose it lets you flash it back if you self-mill it, but that doesn't seem to make up for the lack of power. I must be missing something.

I'd say it lets you win instantly if you mill yourself to the ground with Laboratory Maniac on the table.

Seems to be a fun deck. Love the versatility :)

Antis got it! :)

Laboratory Maniac is too fragile to survive a turn. I do like saving myself with academy ruins during my upkeep but it seems better to just win after milling myself

Honestly this is the best mill deck I've ever seen for this format. Kudos.

Akroma's Memorial comes to mind as a backup 1000yr Elixir. Unlike Elixir, it allows you to win the old-fashioned way on the turn you Bidding, rather than wait around a turn and open yourself up to Wrath effects.

Mogis's Marauder kills in case of Living Death. Just saying. Or Gray Merchant. Devotion FTW! :D
