Someone asked me for a shapeshifter tribal deck featuring Halfdane. I pushed it more into just a ton of Clone effects to see how the new legend rules changed games. Here's the deck list:

Commander
1 Halfdane

Creatures (29)
1 AEtherling
1 Akroma, Angel of Wrath
1 Body Double
1 Cairn Wanderer
1 Clone
1 Deadeye Navigator
1 Dimir Doppelganger
1 Duplicant
1 Evil Twin
1 Graveborn Muse
1 Karmic Guide
1 Mirran Crusader
1 Mirror Entity
1 Mulldrifter
1 Phantasmal Image
1 Phyrexian Metamorph
1 Quicksilver Gargantuan
1 Reveillark
1 Sakashima the Impostor
1 Sakashima's Student
1 Shadowmage Infiltrator
1 Shapesharer
1 Solemn Simulacrum
1 Sphinx of the Steel Wind
1 Vampire Nighthawk
1 Vesuvan Doppelganger
1 Vesuvan Shapeshifter
1 Weathered Wayfarer
1 Withered Wretch

Artifacts (7)
1 Coalition Relic
1 Darksteel Ingot
1 Expedition Map
1 Fellwar Stone
1 Sol Ring
1 Lightning Greaves
1 Skullclamp

Enchantments (4)
1 Mystic Remora
1 Phyrexian Arena
1 Phyrexian Reclamation
1 Rhystic Study

Instants (10)
1 Condemn
1 Counterspell
1 Cyclonic Rift
1 Entomb
1 Intuition
1 Mana Drain
1 Mortify
1 Path to Exile
1 Swords to Plowshares
1 Vampiric Tutor

Planeswalkers (3)
1 Jace Beleren
1 Jace, the Mind Sculptor
1 Venser, the Sojourner

Sorceries (9)
1 Ancestral Vision
1 Austere Command
1 Damnation
1 Demonic Tutor
1 Revoke Existence
1 Rite of Replication
1 Stolen Identity
1 Time Spiral
1 Vindicate

Lands (37)
1 Arid Mesa
1 Bojuka Bog
1 Command Tower
1 Fetid Heath
1 Flooded Strand
1 Godless Shrine
1 Hallowed Fountain
8 Island
1 Marsh Flats
1 Misty Rainforest
1 Mystic Gate
5 Plains
1 Polluted Delta
1 Scrubland
1 Strip Mine
1 Sunken Ruins
4 Swamp
1 Thespian's Stage
1 Tundra
1 Underground Sea
1 Verdant Catacombs
1 Volrath's Stronghold
1 Watery Grave

Some of the shapeshifters didn't make the cut (sorry Morphling!). Like I said, went for more of a copy theme with the creatures, and control elements with the non-creature spells. A couple other things are going on here.

Originally I had more of a reanimator theme, mainly because I was using Body Double (and to a lesser extent, Dimir Doppelganger) and I wanted to ensure that I had something cool to copy. That was tossed to the wayside eventually as inefficient, but some of the recursion cards remained.

There is a slight blink theme with Deadeye Navigator and Venser, the Sojourner. It's nice to be able to reset your Clones when something bigger and better comes along.

A few of the creatures were chosed because they were keyword monsters. Akroma, Sphinx of the Steel Wind, Vampire Nighthawk were all in there to help support Cairn Wanderer, but ended up just being good. Akroma was a little clunky just because I couldn't copy her myself, but I did like the haste aspect.

The main issue with the deck is that it really needs your opponents to play big fun stuff. If you go up against Mayael or Kaalia, you should have a fun time. In addition, Sylvan Primordials are everywhere, and you miss out on copying the ramp aspect.

Haha, thanks. I don't play in real life, so I have no idea how to pronounce a lot of the made up words in Magic. I think I was trying to say hig-your, but yours sounds better.

It's not actually a big deal. I just drafted Kamigawa block a lot, so I have a lot of latent trauma from some of the absurd ways people chose to say those names.

In my memory the most irritating (and popular) was "Jit".

Eh, this has been a staple of MTG since Knight Errant. I still wince whenever someone pronounces Jokulhaups with a hard "J". I'm sure Theros will give us plenty of new pronunciations and inflections to brutally slaughter.

Did you ever consider playing Cackling Counterpart? While it's permanent card, the surprise effect of it being an instant can be ridiculous.

I think that if the token had haste I would have used it. Unfortunately, as the card stands you can't even attack with it. This means that not only did your opponents have to have a decent creature, it would usually have to have a decent "enters the battlefield" ability. Was just too restrictive for my tastes.
