I'm trying to play more of these fancy "blue" cards I hear so much about, so I'm trying out a mono-blue sea monster voltron deck. It's sorta a mess so far, 'cause I haven't figured out what it should be yet... ideally it needs to be a highly competitive mono-blue octopus tribal voltron control deck. It's not crazy, it is merely what the tentacle-faced monsters from beneath the sea have instructed.

Aboshan, Cephalid Emperor

Rhystic Study
Levitation

Lands (38)
Treasure Trove

33 Islands

There are a few cards that I haven't gotten ahold of that I think would fit the deck pretty well: Callous Oppressor, Cephalid Constable, Thada Adel, Lorthos, the Tidemaker, and Dragon Wings.

There are a couple other auras that are pretty good like Fool's Demise and Pemmin's Aura; I'm not sure if they fit the deck though. There's also some other staple-y blue stuff like Desertion, Ixidron, Evacuation, Argivian Restoration, or Thirst for Knowledge that'd be good too, so I need to trim some stuff.

Any thoughts or suggestions? (Bonus points if they're ocean themed.)

I've really wanted to do an Oceanic Badass deck for awhile. I may still try it out. I'll have more suggestions then. There's one card that I've always wanted to play and it would fit in nicely, Quest for Ula's Temple

Trench Gorger, Lorthos, the Tidemaker, and Kederekt Leviathan all say hi.

Another card that would fit thematically and is also really strong is Thada Adel

@scatteredsun:

Ula's Temple seems like a lot of work... even with the extra critters I plan on adding in, I'll still only have around 20 in the deck, so getting a counter'll be a pain.

Yep, as soon as I get my tentacles on these suckers, I'll be ready to stop chumming around and take a swim with the sharks.

eh, its one mana, you have a SDT and you don't have to reveal unless it's a creature. However, I only see 2 targets plus your general so yeah, it would be better in a more on-theme deck.

Not to mention most of the critters the quest can cheat into play are pretty terrible, even by bad-deck standards. On top of that, the best sea monsters (Wrexial + Nemesis of Reason) are UB. So if you wanted to play with it, your best bet might be to run one of the other UB water-theme guys (there's Ramirez, Skeleton Ship, or Sygg, although he's a river guy so he might not count), and then run those two in your 99. If you build the deck though, definitely post the list!

The extra-killer part for Aboshan though is that cephalids don't even count as octopi :(

A great draw spell you could play is Recurring Insight. I would cut Flashfreeze unless your meta is full of decks with red or green.

Seriously, when are they gonna print creatures with the type "Teenage"? I need to complete the quest for the Mutant Ninja Turtle!
Chech out my EDH decks!
-Momir Vig, Simic Visionary: Quest for the Mutant Ninja Turtle (but is that possible? yes, it is)
-Jacques le Vert: Suicide creatures sickness with Sprouting Phytohydra
-Radiant, Archangel: Monowhite tribal angels.
-Lady Evangela: (Magic) clerics are great!!!
-Lady Caleria: ARCHER AMBUSH!!!

Find me in cockatrice to play some EDH.

Huh, how 'bout that? I thought it was in the deck already. The last game I played with with this deck, Riku Guy had a billion cards in hand, and I was sitting around thinking, "Man, I sure hope I draw Recurring Insight..."
