This deck is based on this thread; basically this is all the strong cards mentioned there, cobbled together with clerics and zombies for some Orzhov combo action. Left off the Armageddon though, partly because I hate LD and partly because I want to see if I can kill everyone with Stern Judge+Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth.

What else could go in here?
Kingpin's Pet?
Conspiracy to combo out with Rotlung Reanimator?
Daru Spiritualist + Martyrdom + Starlit Sanctum?

This last one is a little questionable 'cause of Starlit Sanctum... the sun's technically a star, but most of the other Orzhov art is in the daytime, and it doesn't tie together as well. But I'm not building multiple BW cleric decks, and it's a cool tribal piece that doesn't have another home.

I'd keep Starlit Sanctum; You never know when you'll run across the odd Coat of Arms or even if you just have a huge buff with Goldnight Commander you will be able to drain someone for 4-5 life or even get the same amount of life for yourself.

Conspiracy would be a great include for the infinite with Rotlung Reanimator into a Debt to the Deathless finisher.

My Teysa 1.0 deck is a little similar. I have a cleric/zombie theme. I used to have lots of jank in it, but I've upped my removal to combat my meta. If I remember to, I will post it when I get home tonight.

EDIT: Misery Charm is a great card for cleric tribal. It's not a powerhouse by any means, but BW doesn't have many instant speed retrieval options from the graveyard. Well, there is Reinforcements, but you still have to draw the creatures again.

MORE EDIT: Daru Spiritualist with Lightning Greaves + Starlit Sanctum :twisted:

Also, Vizkopa Guildmage is great for an Orzhov lifegain deck. Insane with the Daru combo as well.

Unless your general is just a figurehead, I do not believe that Darkest Hour allows you to activate her ability. Darkest Hour causes the creatures to lose their other colors and simply be Black.

I might just be missing something but I don't actually see a reason to include Darkest Hour? What's the nature of the inclusion? Sometimes I am very thick and miss obvious things.

Infinite combo with Maw of the Obzedat, Altar of Dementia, and Phyrexian Altar. You sacrifice a token and get another token because it's a black 1/1 Spirit instead of a white 1/1 Spirit.

Oh weird. That's... the 4-card long version of Leyline/Helm, isn't it? I guess it's easier to kill all the players with it, though. Right on.

@superstrength:

Ok, I'm sold on Sanctum; flinging a titanic sized Goldnight Commander seems really fun. For the time being though, I added in Sin Collector and Vizkopa Confessor instead of more combo pieces. I thought I had a Conspiracy, but I can't find it at the moment, and I decided Daru Spiritualist is too awful without another combo piece to be worthwhile.

Misery Charm is kind of neat though.

I'm curious to see your deck though, so post it when you get the chance!

@tsumi

Artos basically has it; the combo's Teysa, Darkest Hour, another creature, and a sac outlet. With Altar of Dementia, I can mill everyone to death (not quite Leyline/Helm, since it won't exile). With Phyrexian Altar or Ashnod's Altar I can make infinite mana, and hopefully dump it into a big X-spell. With Maw of the Obzedat, I can make a gigormous Maw + Teysa. And if Goldnight Commander is in play for any of this, it also makes my team girgormous.

Edit-bump.

This deck is getting cannibalized for spare parts for Vish Kal... Teysa was ok, but the deck never really worked as planned. I almost never used the combo parts; it was always easier to extort everyone down to a manageable life total and then finish them off with a big X-spell. Also, it had too many board wipes for the number of weenie creatures.

The extort cards were all overperformers, even the "bad" ones like Vizkopa Confessor. And Evangel of Heliod was always awesome, even though the deck wasn't really built as a devotion deck.

I know it's a bit late, as this deck is getting taken apart, but I wanted to say what this reminded me of:

You know how we used to do something like this back in the day? Angelic Protector + Reconnaissance + Worthy Cause. That's 1998-style infinite life.
