This is my Karador deck. There are many others like it, but this one is mine.

Karador is the latest evolution of a deck type I've been fond of since I pretty much started playing Commander/EDH. I have always enjoyed rock-style decks that grind out card advantage and use efficient creatures to help further the cause.

My initial draft of this decks was much more focused on controlling the board and then fetching good equipment with Stoneforge Mystic and Stonehewer Giant to throw on a creature. This approach has worked well and Karador was an excellent compliment to the package, but I feel like the deck wants to evolve now.

With this version, I am taking a much more graveyard oriented approach that focuses on using creatures with strong abilities to enhance my board position. I have put a heavy focus on the creatures of this deck over all other types of permanents. Any non-creature permanent in here has been added because it's the most cost effective way of reaching that goal. A creature may exist that does the same job, but the non-creature wins because it usually gets online far earlier.

Here is the list as it currently stands (09-19-12)

A few notable ommissions:

Genesis – I like this guy, but the timing restriction on his ability reduces the usefulness of him in this deck. If I have to wait until my upkeep and I can only use it once, I would rather have something like Oversold Cemetery where I don’t have to pay anything. I’ve been fine just relying on Karador for my once a turn creature and then using Phyrexian Reclamation to grab stuff at instant speed.

Mikaeus, the Unhallowed + Triskelion – I do not like instant win combos. Mikaeus on his own might make it in some day, but I’m not sure what would get cut to make that happen.

UPDATE - True Beliver and Viscera Seer out, Saffi and Disciple of Griselbrand in.

My Decks
Damia - Maga - Bolas - Karrthus - Karador

I'm not a huge fan of True Believer since it's pretty fragile and in my experience there aren't that many spells that target a player.

You're running a lot of creature recursion so maybe Aura Shards would be a good fit.

True Believer is more to protect myself from gy removal like Bojuka Bog. I might run with Riftsweeper instead though, since the hate tends to vary a lot in my playgroup and it's more of an active ability that can be reused a few times.

Made some minor tweeks before running this out last night and they seemed to help. I took Viscera Seer out and put in Disciple of Grislebrand. True Believer just became Saffi. I had shied away from running her, but felt a little brokeness is justified. I will resist the temptation to pull some loop involving her + Kokusho.

Speaking of Koko, I managed to recur and sac my new friend three times last night, gaining 60 life in the process. I should note that this did not take anyone out of the game and I only used her that many times because I got hit with a pretty early Sorin activation and was getting wailed on (while everyone was ignoring the Riku player building up to the turn where they Genesis Waved four times). I was the second person out of a five person game thanks to an Akroma that kept wailing on me.

Disciple of Bolas was a house, as was Necromancy. I think I want to find space for Animate Dead so I have a secondary copy of the effect.

Damia - Maga - Bolas - Karrthus - Karador
