This is a revised version of the first EDH deck I've made and I haven't been able to play test with my friends yet. I only play casually in a group.

The basic strategy of the deck is similar to other Mayael decks...I think? Basically it's throw down huge creatures and beat my opponent into the ground. This deck contains only one non-permanent and that is Primal Surge. IF it ever goes off (which it probably won't usually), my entire deck will hit the field and I swing for game, hopefully. OH and I'm trying to keep my deck as modern as possible, but exceptions can be made.

The commander is Mayael the Anima as she excels at getting big guys out and gave me the colors I needed for a interesting combo. Plus since she was my first commander, I simply wanted to make another attempt after my first deck was a flop since I didn't have many 5< creatures at the time, making her ability "3RGW, Tap, Send 5 cards you probably need to the bottom of your deck".

Well I'm generally not sure why I put the equipment in there and I'm not sure if they help. I put a * next to the cards I had some doubts about. There are also some cards I'm probably going to add once I get them but I'd appreciate any thoughts:

Some cards I'd cut:
Caged Sun is not good in a 3 color deck.
Jor Kadeen, the Prevailer - buff isn't worth it and it's too conditional.
Armillary Sphere - with green, you have better choices, but the all-permanents restriction may be an issue.
Elixir of Immortality - Eternal Witness is way better.
Hedron Matrix - cut
Whispersilk Cloak - cut. With the 2 boots you have plenty of protection.
Angelic Destiny - I'd cut.
Eldrazi Conscription - I don't think it's worth a slot in this type of deck.
Ajani Vengeant, Elspeth, Knight-Errant, Gideon Jura - I don't like any of these in this deck.
Angelic Overseer - too conditional and too small
Chancellor of the Annex - in EDH the extra 1 mana isn't a big problem. Too weak.
Reya Dawnbringer is sweet, but with only 4 power, I'd cut her.
Tyrant of Discord - I imagine this will be disappointing most of the time.

Bear Umbra could be good. If you had access to a Sword of Feast and Famine, it'd be better.
You have a ? with Soul of the Harvest, but I like him in my build.

I didn't count how many guys you have that are > 5 power, but you want a lot so you don't miss with Mayael that often. I have 28 big guys and I still miss more than I want to.

For your last questionable card list:
Cavern of Souls - If you have enough fatties and plan on using Mayael and your play group sees her as a threat, it could be useful, though it may be better to put a land that taps for colors for everything instead.
Kher Keep - doesn't seem worth it. A land that taps for colored mana will be better.
Sunhome, Fortress of the Legion - one of the few buffing cards you have that I'd keep. This can be great.
Norn's Annex and Ghostly Prison - you want to attack. This isn't a defensive deck. I'd cut these.
Eldrazis - great in a Mayael deck if you can cheat them in with her ability.
Angel of Salvation - not strong enough.
Illuminated Folio - way too expensive.

Obvious omissions:
Primeval Titan - mana
Regal Force - excellent card draw
Bloom Tender - excellent ramp dude - taps for 3 with Mayael out.
Avenger of Zendikar - army in a can
Spearbreaker Behemoth - indestructible dude that gives indestructibility
Warstorm Surge - with Primal Surge, this might kill them without even attacking.

Yeah, I really thought the majority of the equipment/auras I added in were useless so they'll be going out. Regal Force could kill me if I Primal Surged it, right? But Warstorm Surge could probably could stack on top so that'd be fine. Worse case scenario Regal Force is on the bottom and goes off first. All your creature suggestions seem great and I thank you for the advice! If there is anything else you want to say I'd be glad to hear it.

I'd cut Birds of Paradise because they they die so easily. Gilded Lotus or Thran Dynamo are better usually.

I think I'll keep the birds since it's a turn one play and those two artifacts are a bit costly money wise at the moment.

Ah, you reminded me. I do agree with you, but I have the Birds in my build because of Green Sun's Zenith, which is great. Also, Dryad Arbor is great with it too. Other tutors like Worldly Tutor or Eladamri's Call help to find these for early mana ramping.

I missed these before, but I'd look at cutting Joraga Treespeaker and Dreamstone Hedron.

Sorry for the newbie question, but is there any way for an opponent to disrupt Primal Surge while the controller is putting permanents from their library to battlefield?

No. Anything that happens during Primal Surge's resolution will only take effect after it's completely finished. At that time, any abilities that triggered while it was resolving will all be put onto the stack, then players will have a chance to respond to those abilities.

This deck would lose effectiveness if it didn't since opponents could surgically remove key pieces as they hit the field. (Though the strategy in general isn't really sound to begin with.)

How can primal surge be your win condition if there is no way for you to tutor it, and your ramp is rather weak, so even if you do get it you won't be able to cast it ?

Prolly ther best card ever for big critter decks
Greater Good

Critters that should prolly be in your deck, really they all just have good come into play effects. If the critter does something as it comes into play at least you get an effect before the table wraths away your guys.

Primal Surge is more of a complete win condition, since this deck generally won't do anything but smash an opponent into the ground. (Plus, I don't think anyone would normally suspect I run a deck with only one non-permanent the first time they play with me, but that's just me.) Most of the time it's just make do with what I have and see what happens.Utility lands can also win the game I guess. Today, I won a game through Sunhome, and Kessig on an Angelic Overseer with a Bear Umbra, which allowed for a second Kessig. Though, I hope that when I add Teferi's Puzzle Box(This one is a maybe, since getting Primal Surge to early would result in it ending up on the bottom and it might help my opponent) and Mindmoil to the deck, digging for Primal Surge will become somewhat easier. Greater Good has been suggested many times to me though I keep forgetting to actually get one. As for ramp, I can't really think of any good permanent ramp that won't be costing me too much at the moment in monies.

Kodama's Reach i know it's not a perminent, but the reality is it pushes you from 3 mana to 5 when you cast it, assuming you don't have 1, they're in commander decks, and about 50 cents if you want to order one online.
Cultivate same as above but it's newer so 10 cents online.
Hunting Wilds 10~25 cents online, pushes you from 4 to 6 mana
Explosive Vegetation 30~70 cents online same as above
skyshroud Claim 20 ~ 50 cents online same as above
Fertilid 10~30 cents online

Other than wilds and claim all of these play well with budjet cards aren't costly or hard to find, and allow you to push to the point that you can start eaither activating mayeal, or dropping the critters that have been stuck in your hand.

Hmm...Fertilid seems decent actually...two rampants on a creature, assuming it doesn't die, but as for the sorceries, I will stubbornly hold on to the idea that my deck will be pure permanents so they probably won't be going in. I'll have to add Fertilid to my list. Thanks!
