Insects are such a neglected creature type and the ground that lies between Insect & Spiders in development usually ranges between "Wanna give it Reach?" and "What kind of offbeat vanilla creature can we use to fill up a slot in the new set?." I notice most of the notable Insects are from really old sets, so I figured I might as well round up an Insect deck for the fun of it. I know more Insects are available if I branch into Xira Arien colors, but I didn't wanna use her cause she doesn't do that much. Thriss is cool, and plus, Primus sucks.

Leave suggestions and comments below. :3

Can't touch Thriss.
-Kamahl, Fist of Krosa

Okay, but seriously, Hydra Omnivore surely has a place in here.

Gigantomancer's human, but the art is on theme, and you might have the mana + weak utility creatures to put the effect to good use.

(I include it in most green decks just because the art makes me giggle.)

Bee Sting from portal? Hard to get, but you're playing all the others....

I want to see Nantuko Mentor, Nantuko Disciple and Thriss all working on the same creature. It would be hilarious:P

Edit: Obligatory Creeping Renaissance plug is obligatory. Its really hard not to mention this since its pretty much one of the best late game green recursion cards along with Restock. And Bramblecrush just because.

Thousand-Year Elixir would not only allow you to use your General's ability right away, but also let him pump himself and then attack as quite a big flippin general.

Symbiotic Wurm is sad he can't hang out with his bro Symbiotic Beast. Xantid Swarm seems pretty handy too. Also, Coat of Arms (insects have lots of arms), and Greater Good (insects live for the good of the hive right?).

I just want to let you know how much I approve of this deck. Goddamn work of art! :D

Also, this really looks like it wants a minor sub-theme of spiders or something. Goliath Spider or Silklash Spider to help stave off dragons and whatnot. Hurricane or Corrosive Gale as sweepers...

Muraganda Petroglyphs for fun perhaps?

Deck is pretty sweet.

Beacon of Creation seems like a huge oversight. One Dozen Eyes isn't quite as good, but is still worth considering.

I like Swarmyard so much that I would definitely be running Expedition Map and Sylvan Scrying to find it.

You may be intentionally avoiding infect, but there are a number of playable infect Insect token makers. Trigon of Infestation and Phyrexian Swarmlord both seem worthy of consideration.

Symbiotic Wurm was one of the cards I considered when making this deck and I don't think it was that unreasonable to take the Beast in favor of the Wurm for flavor, but damn, it's good. I'm seriously taking another look at it, and wondering when I can cut for this bad boy.

And how in the HELL did I not see Xantid Swarm when looking up insects? That thing is awesome! :D

I like Coat of Arms well enough, but I just don't think I can squeeze it in (or at least have enough want to do so).

Thank you for the awesome compliment! I'm flattered, really. :3

Unfortunately, the BEARS already took Muraganda Petroglyphs for their own, and no filthy bugs are gonna take that from them. >:D

You're the second person to mention splashing Spiders in here, and I'm just wanting to build a seperate Spider deck since there are more of them (especially with the introduction of the Innistrad block). Maybe Doran, the Siege Tower as a general? idk.

Yes, the Infect subtheme was definitely on my mind when making this deck and Swarmlord was the first thing on my mind, but I would have had to jump through too many hoops to put the Infect insects in here too (Swarmlord, Carrion Call, Trigon, etc.). The power is pretty great though.

Swarmyard is awesome. I'll think about one of those making the cut.

I definitely considered One Dozen Eyes, but I can't believe I glanced over Beacon of Creation. /is dumb

You're probably at the threshold of Insects to use Door of Destinies and Coat of Arms. I mean, this is what we play for tribal for, right? (Okay, it's not the ONLY reason, but it's definitely one of them.)

You're probably right. I'll give Hornet Cannon the boot. It's not doing much anyway.

-1 Hornet Cannon

+1 Door of Destinies
