Karona is sitting in my collection binder since the ancient days of my first sliver deck (non-EDH).
Now it's about time to give her an own deck and since she gives a tribal bonus to any tribe I like, I chose her own kind: Avatars! (there are many really good ones out there in the multiverse.)

So, the Decklist:
//Commander
Karona, False God

//"Avatars" & other creatures
Ajani Goldmane
Amoeboid Changeling
Avatar of Fury
Avatar of Slaughter
Avatar of Woe
Avian Changeling
Cemetery Puca
Chameleon Colossus
Cryptoplasm -> Adaptive Automaton, asap
Dominus of Fealty
Elvish Aberration
Fire-Belly Changeling
Kozilek, Butcher of Truth
Mirror Entity
Mothdust Changeling
Mutavault
Nobilis of War
Sakura-Tribe Elder
Scion of Darkness
Shapesharer
Skeletal Changeling
Sliver Queen
Taurean Mauler
The Mimeoplasm
Transcendent Master
Veteran Explorer
Woodland Changeling -> Avatar of Might, asap
World Queller
Yavimaya Elder

//GoodStuff, FunStuff & Tricks
Austere Command
Beseech the Queen
Brainstorm
Demonic Tutor
Diabolic Tutor
Fact or Fiction
Genju of the Realm
Living Death
Martyr's Bond
Naked Singularity
Oblivion Stone
Proteus Staff
Syphon Mind
Time Reversal
Vow of Duty
Vow of Flight
Vow of Lightning
Vow of Malice
Vow of Wildness

//Mana Stuff
Armillary Sphere
Cultivate
Darksteel Ingot
Exploding Borders
Explosive Vegetation
Garruk Wildspeaker
Harmonize
Harrow
Journeyer's Kite
Kodama's Reach
Rampant Growth
Sol Ring

//Lands
Blood Crypt
Breeding Pool
Godless Shrine
Hallowed Fountain
Overgrown Tomb
Sacred Foundry
Steam Vents
Stomping Ground
Temple Garden
Watery Grave
Command Tower
Temple of the False God
7 Forest
5 Island
5 Mountain
5 Plains
5 Swamp

Seeing, that most Avatars are rather exensive (mana-wise), I was really surprised, that the deck got such an efficient mana curve (see here).

You might wonder about some of the cards in there...
Naked Singularity - just one of my favorite cards
Sliver Queen - dto.
Genju - I have many lands, and I've been wanting to play it for a long time now.
Kozilek - protects me from the various mill decks in my meta.
Mimeoplasm - can become an Avatar.

Don't forget that Dark Depths makes an avatar token, the Kaldra equipment makes an Avatar token and Figure of Destiny becomes an Avatar.

Other actual avatars that you may have missed.

Aeon Chronicler
Child of Alara
Deity of Scars
Divinity of Pride
Herald of Leshrac
Overbeing of Myth
Sanguine Praetor
Stalking Vengeance

You could also try Unnatural Selection to turn your non-avatars into avatars and your opponents' creatures into something else so they don't all get the bonus at the same time.

YOU'RE RIGHT...
Totally forgot about these - must change!

Thanks for these!

Not missed - I just don't have these and also, they're a bit expensive (in mana), so I can't play them all. Altough I'm going to play Child and a Progenitus as soon as I get them And Chronicler is really worth a try, too.

Have you considered other shapeshifters instead of some of the bad changelings? Like Phyrexian Metamorph, Clone, Body Double, and Vesuvan Doppelganger?

As far as I have them, yes. I considered them in my first draft (of roughly 100 cards, not including lands) and then I had cut them in favor of other cards.
After all, they're no Avatars...

Nevertheless, thank you!

But... yes they are. Or at least, they can easily be avatars :)

Why use creatures, that "can be Avatars", when there are already so many good creatures, that already ARE? :wink:

btw:
I just got Aeon Cronicler & Oversoul of Dusk... in they go - I'll post an update soon.

You'll be able to double-up on the avatars that are actually good. Also, having shapeshifters/cloners will allow you to copy something else on the field that can benefit you in a pinch (i.e. Primeval Titan to mana fix).

This thread makes me remember Personal Incarnation fondly.

Edit: From revised/fourth edition when it looked like a fight instead of a dance party.
