Here is my first take on a Zedruu deck. Before you say how bad it is please keep in mind that this is a deck that will be relying heavily on table negotiations, and is a Group hug deck. The main focus of this deck is helping the weaker players combat the stronger. It is also supposed to speed the game along since people will be receiving extra resources through me.

General:
Zedruu the Greathearted

Counters (5):
Hinder staple
Scattering Stroke the prospect of having extra mana on turn 5 is nice
Time Stop so versatile
Mindbreak Trap counters uncounterable
Spell Crumple staple

Mass "Removal" (10):
Hallowed Burial
Kederekt Leviathan
Akroma's Vengeance
Austere Command
Warp World
Oblivion Stone
Thieves' Auction (only way to massively move my lands to another player.)
Rout
Phyrexian Rebirth
Scrambleverse

Targeted "Removal" (8):
Oblation
Exclusion Ritual
Faith's Fetters (donate fodder)
Gilded Drake
Duplicant
Spin into Myth
Magus of the Unseen (grab and donate away)
Callous Oppressor (grab and donate away)

Draw (4):
Font of Mythos (donate fodder) replaced by paradox haze
Mulldrifter
Trade Secrets
Anvil of Bogardan (donate fodder)

Mana accel. (10):
Everflowing Chalice (donate fodder)
Fellwar Stone (donate fodder)
Darksteel Ingot (donate fodder and indestructible)
Solemn Simulacrum (donate fodder)
Sol Ring (donate fodder)
Oath of Lieges (donate fodder)
Gilded Lotus (donate fodder)
Spectral Searchlight (donate fodder)
Dreamstone Hedron (donate fodder)
Land Tax (donate fodder)

Fun (6):
Puca's Mischief (abusive with cards that give me control of their creatures until EoT)
Emberwilde Djinn (donate fodder)
Bazaar Trader (abusive with cards that give me control of their creatures until EoT)
Preacher (grab and donate)
helm of possesion
Dominus of Fealty (grab and donate)
rings of brighthearth)

Good stuff (9):
Darksteel Plate
Lightning Greaves
Thopter Assembly (donatable 1/1 flyers)
Venser, the Sojourner (reels in donations)
Chamber of Manipulation (grab and donate)
Darksteel Relic (donate fodder)
Darksteel Brute (donate fodder)
Illusions of Grandeur (donation win con)
Darksteel Pendant

Stall (8):
Gomazoa
Ghostly Prison
Fog Bank
Delaying Shield (stall then donate)
Lich's Mirror (my favorite card to donate. notice that it will still be in play when an opponent dies with this on their field. Also notice that the game ends in a draw if they had died from poison counters or general damage)
Platinum Angel (donations saves lives)
Propaganda
Norn's Annex

Lands (39):
magosi, the Waterveil (ever just needed that one extra turn? Be nice and I can give that to you)
Rainbow Vale (ever just need that 1 mana?)
Undiscovered Paradise (more mana give aways)
Miren, the Moaning Well (sac outlet for creatures I take)
High Market (same as above)
Mystifying Maze
Cascade Bluffs
Strip Mine
Exotic Orchard
Tectonic Edge
Reliquary Tower
Forbidden Orchard
Evolving Wilds
Terramorphic Expanse
Command Tower
Ghost Quarter
Contested War Zone
Wasteland
Steam Vents
Rugged Prairie
Sacred Foundry
basics

cards not included-
There were many candidates for this deck that didn't make the cut.

Astral Slide (and cycling lands didn't make the cut this time, but are a serious candidate since I can use it to reel back donations, not only my own cards, but even use it to return other cards to their owners as part of a negotiation.)
Wild research (a fun but powerful card, looking for a card slot)
Zur's Weirding (was in another zedruu decklist. makes sense to think about adding.)
Rings of Brighthearth looking for room (in)

One last note, is that this deck really isn't trying to win. It's main goal is to make sure that no game is a blow out and no player is helpless. It does so by shifing the power around obviously.

Not sure if Thieves' Auction, Warp World, and Scrambleverse mesh with the Group Hug concept.

Homeward Path could be good insurance if anyone is abusing donations (or tries to steal the board with Insurrection).

Pariah's Shield would be a good add to help delay.

Instead of Thopter Assembly, try Nuisance Engine 0/2 tokens are much better to hand out than 1/1 tokens. Lower risk of getting hit in the face with them.

You could also consider running Hunted Dragon and Hunted Phantasm. The tokens wouldn't let you benefit from Zedruu at all, but giving someone chump blockers is never a bad thing for a King Maker deck.

Stuffy Doll would be hilarious to donate.

The most important thing I can recommend, though, is Rings of Brighthearth. Allows you to donate twice in a turn with Zedruu, and you can bounce two permanents a turn with Venser as well (just to name a few important interactions).

thanks for the comments. The reason thieves's auction is in the deck is because it is the only way to massively shift my lands to someone else, I also think of it as a quasi sweeper.

Warp world is another "sweeper" that tucks generals. But I also find this to be interesting since anything I donated previously to my opponents, will count for me towards the warp world count.

Scrambleverse, in theory, should also even the playing field, and massivly shift my permanents to another player.

Homeword path is definitly a good idea, though it almost seems counterproductive to me.

Pariahs shield is a sick stalling card, I'll see about that.

Your right about thopter assembly, it might be a bit too costly for an effect that may backfire. I still have to test it out a bit more to make sure I want to cut it. I still think its a strong political object though. It lets me put 5 flying 1/1 chump blockers in play, then lets me either donate chump blockers or dontate thopter assembly. but the thopter assembly would end up returnng to my hand. (which is good)

Stuffy dollis indestructible which is a huge reason as to why I should play him, still costly though.

Rings of Brighthearth, how could I forget? Great suggestion.

The biggest threat to a Zedruu deck is the annihilator ability. Some way to keep eldrazi in check would be good. Ensnaring Bridge comes to mind.

Otherwise, people wouldn't mind sacc'ing a few of your donated permanents.

I was thikning the same exact thing superstrength, except that Zedruu is probably going to have loads of cards in hand so ensaring bridge wont be too effective. I am banking on, at the moment, that whoever has the eldrazi will be public enemy number 1 and I will have the rest of the table to help kill that player/creature. I have lots of spot removal and mass removal to hopefully deal with that annihilator. (1/4th of my deck can kill/take a creature)

When I was in Haiti in December '09, 'Christmas Goat' was the best translation of 'Reindeer' we could get the locals to understand.
